How do I know if I need this filter?

If you use a reverse osmosis system, use distilled water, or have to low TDS content in your supply water this is the filter you need.  You can check the TDS for your area by visiting this website and inputting your zip code: https://www.zerowater.com/tds.php?. If your source water is below 50 total deposited sediment (TDS) you need the Echo Remineralization Filter for Echo 9 or Echo 9 Ultra. If your area is above 50 TDS and you have an Echo 9, Echo 9 Ultra, or Echo H2 you need the Echo Replacement Filter. In areas of TDS higher than 200, it is recommended to clean your machine with an Echo Cleaning Cartridge for Echo 9, 9 Ultra, or H2 every 3-6 months.
